The three-plus years of the Biden administration have seen the most attention on affordable homeownership in several generations. Even still, it begs the question “Is affordable homeownership an impossible dream?”

Kirk Willison, Arch MI’s chief advocate based in Washington, will discuss the barriers to growing homeownership and how policymakers are aiming to overcome them, including addressing racial inequity, high transaction costs and inadequate housing stock.  We will cover the latest proposals to offer tax credits to lower-income families to purchase homes, CFPB's focus on mortgage 'junk' fees and how the NAR settlement might impact home sales.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Kirk joined Arch MI four years ago after a long career as a policy specialist in the mortgage industry. Previously, he advocated for Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae and Countrywide Home Loans. He writes the periodic Arch MI newsletter Capital Commentary about housing policy and hosts our PolicyCast podcast series. Both are distributed to more than 100,000 industry professionals.
